What is milia removal?
Milia removal refers to the process of eliminating small, hard cysts known as milia, which are typically white or yellowish bumps found on the skin. These cysts often appear around the eyes and cheeks but can develop anywhere on the body. Unlike typical acne spots, milia do not exhibit redness or inflammation; instead, they feel like tiny grains beneath the skin's surface. While it's common to see multiple milia clustered together, they can also manifest as solitary bumps and may occur in various locations, including sensitive areas like the groin and genital region.

Milia

What Causes Mila ?
Milia form when keratin, a natural protein, accumulates just beneath the skin's surface. Dermatologists believe this may result from sweat gland damage following skin trauma or, in newborns, from blocked sweat glands. As we age, our skin's cell turnover slows, making older skin more prone to developing milia repeatedly.

Milia are neither contagious nor harmful, and there is no evidence to suggest a genetic connection or hereditary nature to the condition. However, individuals may feel self-conscious about their presence, particularly when located on visible areas like the face.

While milia can take time to fade on their own, they can be effectively removed through a straightforward, minor procedure. Various treatment options exist based on the type, location, and quantity of milia, with the most common method involving the use of a sterile needle for removal.

Milia removal methods?

There are various techniques for removing milia.

One method involves using a sterile needle to make a small incision after cleansing the affected skin, allowing for the careful extraction of the milia's contents. Alternatively, a healthcare provider may recommend topical medications for specific types of milia, particularly when physical extraction isn't appropriate.
